Journal / A Journey to the East, Labuan Bajo

Journey to the east. The first outstanding journey and adventure we have so far.  Three days and 2 night we travelled few magnificent islands in Labuan Bajo.

Our Story of Journey to the East

Begin in April, 2nd 2015 we went to Labuan bajo from Denpasar, Bali. Arrived at 9 am in Komodo Airport, and we just can’t wait for the journey. Picked up by Mbak Yeni and her partner from the airport to Bajo harbor for just about 5 minutes (I thought it took more than 1 hour trip LOL). Then we start it all around, we move to small ship that sweet enough to carry us all. We so glad that the captain was so kind, and also the crew. Wow, We know it gonna great since the first time We coming in to the ship!

And our ship start the journey to the east, firstly we were visit Gili Laba island. It took approx. 2 hours from Bajo harbor. In the way to Gili  Laba, it such a amazing first time trip using small ship, looking around we only see the blue ocean and of course the beautiful of small island around it, island that mostly covered by beautiful triangle-like shape. So amazing! that We can’t hold our hands for while to stop taking picture in all the way to our first destination. Well, then finally we arrived in Gili Laba island. It was at noon exactly. The sun was shining above of our head, so hot, but we dare. Then we start to hike to the top of Gili Laba. So excited for the first time until halfway to go we feeling so thirsty, dehidration ahead, and getting vomit with the stock of our water supply was gone. But we still have some spirit within, and we just go until we reach the top, Yeah! Our sacrifice is not in vain, we can see all the beauty of Gili laba best view from its top. We feel like we were in paradise. Then after 1 hour on its top, we go back down to our ship and go to next destination, Padar island.

As the sun going down, we’re reached our next destination, Padar. When we saw it from distance, hmmm…another great adventure was waiting us. Its hills lie with the savana all around it. We just like seeing a place that Jose Villa usually us for his photo session, or on the other hand we see a gigantic hills that look like it’s in dinosaur age. Because we arrived in the afternoon, so our captain decide to hike and explore on the next day. We just enjoy the sunset atmosphere on the ship with some music played over Harman Kardon onix (I can’t believe it, the travel agent provide us with this killing sound speaker :D). We also fishing and get some small fish. Oh it was just another fun moment for us.

The next day, in the early morning we woke up and get ready to next journey. Getting the sunrise photographs over the hills and hiking before the sun goes up. Yeah, then we go to the Padar’s top hills to see that 2 curly beaches separated by the hills of Padar, It’s amazing. Take some photos and also some footage for our short video journey as you can play on the very top of this page. We saw the butterfly, a lot of butterfly flying around the yellow flowers tree, seeking some nectar for its food. Then after approximately 20 minutes we reach the top. Wow, wooow, and woww, We can’t imagine and describe how beautiful it was. You just have to visit Padar, no regret, surely.

Bye Padar island, then we went to the legendary Pink Beach. Well, the sand actually not pink as mentioned, it’s slightly red because of degradation red coral that pilled in the edge of beach. We were spend our time to snorkling all around it. Ouh, what another beauty. It has amazing under the sea view, a lots of coral, fish, and others biodiversity. Hey, wait a second, we almost forget to mention that finally we saw the “nemo” clown fish directly in front of our eyes. It just like on its movie, really. So cute.

Back from Pink Beach we were ahead to Kalong island for a break and enjoying the sunset. At night, we held a small party with our travel team and the ship crew. We play the music so loud and get drunk. So loud that we accidentally invite another tourist to join our party, yeah! Even they swim from their ship to come by to us in almost 100m distance at night. We can’t imagine that (we not really expert in swimming, lol). Then we enjoy the night together, as we feel the same travel journey and adventure vibes.

Okay, finally we were on 3rd day of our journey to the east. On the last day we visit Komodo island, getting walk around the island, seeing the “dragon” directly. The locals said that we were lucky to see the Komodo on our way around. Its skin is thick, with a pointed claw, and absolutely wild. It can take you all in just few seconds. Can you imagine? See youtube and search Komodo, then you’ll figure how vicious it was. And the last of our destination was on Kelor island. It’s not as awesome as padar but we enjoy its under the sea panoramic view. So, here’s our best photographs of our journey to the east. Enjoy! And Get travelled!
